Hidemyass handed over critical data to the FBI setting up a Lulzsec member. Hidemyass has been denying that fact. According to Hidemyass, it was a step taken by them after the court order.

Lulzsec member arrested

Hidemyass provides free proxy services and is a UK Based company. Lulzsec and Anonymous members have always been known to be using their services. As per Hidemyass, they forwarded personal and critical information of one of the suspected Lulzsec member to the feds as they were asked to do so by the court of law.

The same court order states that a Lulzsec member named Cody Andrew Kretsinger, age 23, located at Phoenix, Arizona utilized Hidemyass’s free proxy services to hack into sony entertainment’s website which later leaked personal data of thousands of gamers. As per the same court order, Andrew executed SQL Injection attacks using proxy provided by Hidemyass, hence, they were asked to reveal the data of this specific user.

Hidemyass has released a statement for this news. They’ve said that after reading the IRC Chat logs which were released publicly, it seemed that these hackers were discussing various proxy and VPN services they have been using for illegal hacking purposes. It was clearly mentioned that some of them were using Hidemyass’s VPN. Since there was no solid proof of the entire problem, Hidemyass did no initiate any action. However, after receiving the court order to reveal the data of a few users, they had no choice but to follow what has been asked. They have also stated that, it is clearly mentioned in their terms that they would not allow any illegal activity executed with their proxy services.

It seemed that Anonymous and a few other fellas on twitter were annoyed because of this entire fiasco and there were tons of tweets mocking Hidemyass all day. I remember reading one tweet that said “If it was good enough to rat out one member in exchange of their entire business?”
